There’s a line we come back to often here at Vetta Group: technology should improve lives – not just productivity, not just bottom lines, but actual lives. The people of South Canterbury are our neighbours, our customers, and the reason we get out of bed in the morning.
That’s why we’re proud to announce that Vetta Group has become a Strategic Partner of the Aoraki Foundation.
About the Aoraki Foundation
The Aoraki Foundation is South Canterbury’s community foundation – a charitable organisation established to provide a simple, long-lasting way for individuals and businesses to support the causes that matter most in our region.
Since being founded, the Foundation has grown to manage millions in community funds, distributing grants each year to organisations across health, education, environment, and social wellbeing. From Hospice South Canterbury and St John, to smaller community groups in Geraldine, Waimate, and the Mackenzie Basin – the Aoraki Foundation quietly does the work of making our rohe (region) stronger, year after year.
Their model is straightforward and powerful: donors contribute, funds are invested and grown, and the returns are distributed as grants to community organisations – creating a permanent, self-sustaining source of local good. To date, the generosity of South Cantabrians has generated an $18 million benefit to the region.
Why We Said Yes
Vetta Group is a South Canterbury company through and through. We’re headquartered in Timaru, our people live here, our kids go to school here, and the businesses we support every day are part of the same community fabric we all rely on.
We’ve always tried to show up for this region – whether that’s through our digital equity work connecting underserved households to affordable broadband, our involvement with the South Canterbury Chamber of Commerce, the local apprenticeships and youth development opportunities we create through our MTFJ programme, or the community groups and sports clubs we support.
Partnering with the Aoraki Foundation is a natural extension of that commitment. The Foundation has something we deeply respect: a long game. It’s not about short-term PR or one-off donations. It’s about building enduring infrastructure for community good – the kind that compounds over time, just like the investments that fund it.
As a technology company, we know something about infrastructure. You build it well, you maintain it with care, and over time it quietly enables everything else. The Aoraki Foundation is doing exactly that – for the people of South Canterbury.
What This Partnership Means
As a Strategic Partner, Vetta Group will contribute to the Foundation’s operational capacity – the day-to-day running costs that allow the Aoraki Foundation team to do their work, without that cost eating into the grants that flow out to community organisations.
Every dollar we contribute as a Partner goes toward keeping the Foundation lean and effective, so that more of what donors give can reach the people and causes it’s intended for.
We’re also looking forward to connecting more closely with the Foundation’s network – sharing their stories, amplifying their work, and helping more South Canterbury businesses understand the straightforward, lasting impact of giving through the Aoraki Foundation.
We've got your back
An Invitation
If you’re a South Canterbury business reading this, we’d encourage you to have a conversation with the Aoraki Foundation team. The model is simple, the governance is strong, and the impact is real and local. You can direct your giving to the causes that matter most to you, or contribute to a specific fund and let the grant process do the work.
This is how we build a region that thrives – not just in good years, but for the long haul.
Ngā mihi nui,
Shaun Fisher
